Craig Barnes

Senior Planner


Craig first joined Gladman in 2012 as a Graduate Planner within the site search and research team. During this time, Craig monitored Local Plan Preparation, assessed housing land supply, prepared research documents which considered the prospects of various land securing planning permission, and assisted in the preparation of planning applications. Later Craig moved into Gladman’s Planning Policy Team preparing and submitting representations on behalf of the business in response to various emerging policy documents, as well as attending and assisting Local Plan Examinations. Having left in 2015, Craig re-joined Gladman in Autumn 2018, as a Senior Policy Planner.

Beyond Gladman, Craig has experience in both public and consultancy sectors. Craig worked at Harrogate Borough Council in the spatial planning team for a period of 6 months assisting with the preparation of the Site Allocations DPD. Craig also worked for over three years at Barton Willmore in Manchester. Craig worked for various regional and national housebuilders progressing sites through the plan preparation and application process, and gained experience in the tourism, retail, and office sectors.

Outside of work Craig enjoys running and hill walking. Craig likes watching Football, American Football and cricket and is a keen follower of Manchester United, New York Giants, and Yorkshire CCC.
