This 29 acre greenfield site is located south west of Halstead’s settlement boundary. Halstead is a market town in Essex and possesses a good range of shops, community facilities and service provision, with good pedestrian and vehicular links to the facilities and services in the town and surrounding area.  Nearby Braintree provides direct rail access to London, Chelmsford and Colchester.

Braintree District Council’s Planning Committee resolved to grant outline planning permission for up to 292 dwellings on the site in September 2015 (subject to conditions and S106 agreement). This permission included the provision of affordable housing, ecological mitigation, vehicular and pedestrian access and obliges the developer to contribute to the provision of new footpaths and road widening. There is also a commitment to various transport and wayfinding improvements including the upgrade of bus stops and contributions to Halstead’s new community centre project, local surgery and education.
